Next Sunday, April 21 (7pm EST/4pm PST) on Third Eye Cinema: one of our proudest musical moments, as we feature a living legend!
With roots in the metal scene going back to the late 1970s, he fronted one of the premier bands of German metal, the mighty Accept! With his throaty, glass gargling yet powerful vocals shoring up Wolf Hoffman’s neoclassically based compositions, he helped put Accept at the very top echelons of traditional heavy metal!
After delivering 7 molten slabs of unforgettable and still influential anthems (including such classic platters as Restless and Wild, Balls to the Wall and Metal Heart), he broke off to begin his own equally hard hitting, stubbornly and persistently traditional metal band U.D.O., despite and throughout the musical nadir of the 1990s, where such sorry substitutes as grunge, hip hop and “alternative” dominated the airwaves and practically demonized the sound worldwide.
